Jo Loecher: Digital Learning Environment for Gale Ranch Middle School
1. What tools, software, operating systems, and equipment are available in your school and classroom?
Videoconferencing, streaming, photos, YouTube, TeacherTube, Edublog, Wordpress, Ed1Stop, Schoolloop, Edmodo, PBWiki. How does your school make use of school and/or teacher websites? We use them daily in our lesson planning and integrate them in our presentation and teaching on a daily basis. Many sites are embedded into our personal and class websites and students and teachers add to the sites daily.
2. How are you currently utilizing technology for learning?
35 ipads in Science Dept. (class set), one to one device initiative in 4 classrooms, 12 laptops in a portable lab in all LA classrooms (12 classroms=144), computer lab (35 computers, and library lab (20 computers) All macs. Smart boards in 6 classrooms. LCDs, doc cameras and desktop computers in all classrooms. Teachers utilize tech in all presentations of their lessons and students use technology for word processing and research. Ipads are used for presentations as well as for research. Students create imovie presentations, garageband music, ibook author and teacher and student created websites for additional information and research into a topic. (ie Social Issues web site for my LA unit of the same name)
